Alaric Hu is a founding partner and Chief Investment Officer. Alaric has been involved in the capital markets for 24 years as an analyst, trader, and investor. He was recently a top ranked equity investor in Europe focusing on the oil and gas industry when he was at Odey Asset Management before joining the Northlight Group. Alaric was previously at Bank of America where he was a desk analyst responsible for telecoms and media high yield credit and managed a portfolio of leveraged loans. He has also worked at Commerzbank in London focusing on distressed debt, high yield, and capital structure arbitrage. Alaric started his career at TD Securities in New York where he was part of a top-ranked team in high yield bonds.
Alaric is a technical awards judge for the Society of Petroleum Engineers and currently serves on the DeGolyer, Rand, McConnell, and Onshore Projects and Facilities committees. In 2012, Alaric was invited to join the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a think tank dedicated to global political and military affairs, and has participated in several energy and Middle Eastern-focused discussions. Alaric is also a member of Chatham House, as well as The Geological Society. Alaric graduated cum laude from The Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences.
Maritza Lie is Atmosphere Capital's CFO. Maritza has most recently been involved in a number of Business Development roles, including Brands+StartupsTM, a tech startup, as well as MCD Partners, an independent creative digital agency, where she oversaw a four-fold expansion in the size of the company. Prior to this, she worked in equity research at Goldman Sachs and Furman Selz. She has also been involved in equity and corporate debt financings as an investment banker at TD Securities, as well as on the buyside at an international Real Estate Investment Trust. Maritza is a graduate of both Baruch College and Brandeis University, and studied with Princeton-in-Beijing at Beijing Normal University.
